Sinus Headaches

Sinus Related Headaches

Sinus headaches are serious as they usually come along with a fever and many other symptoms of infected sinuses.

The problem with sinus headaches is that they are very painful and people who are looking for treatment are more than likely looking to get rid of the pain.

One will more than likely also have the associated fever that comes along with getting a sinus headache so one will more than likely not be at work or going about your normal business.

A recent study that was done showed that out of more than 4,000 people who went to a doctor to get help in dealing with their sinus headaches, 90% of these were actually migraines and not sinus headaches.

The difference is important as the treatment to solve the problem is different.

Knowing the difference between a sinus headache and a migraine is vitally important.

This is something that usually takes a bit of getting used to and people who develop chronic sinusitis get to know the difference over time.

Solving the problem of chronic sinusitis will eventually also solve the problem of sinus headaches.

Although the intensity of the sinus headache is very high and some say worse than even a migraine, the treatment in solving the problem is very different.

One needs to deal with the reason why you got the headache and not necessarily directly with the pain.

For example, the pain of a sinus headache starts with the infected sinuses which get inflamed.

This results in swelling and runny nose etc. which is something that is caused as a result of the infection.

This means that in order to stop the headache one needs to stop the cause of the headache, which are infected sinuses.

Simply taking a pain killer because you have a sinus headache is not going to stop you from getting a headache.

You need to deal directly with the reason that you got the headache in the first place.

This is done by taking decongestants, anti-inflammatories, and other types of medication, as prescribed by your doctor.

The worse thing you can do is to try and self-medicate.

The medication that you need to take when you have a sinus headache might not be directly aimed at the severe pain that you are in.

But the bottom line is that your headache will stop once the cause of the headache has been effectively illuminated.

The associated symptoms that come along with a sinus headache are the most important.

There is certainly a lot of information that needs to be digested and not just dealing with the first and primary objective which is dealing with the pain.

Today, there are more and more people that get affected by sinus headaches and it is now reported that over 30 million American report sinus headaches each year.
