In humans, the term disease is often used more broadly to refer to any condition that causes pain, dysfunction, distress, social problems, or death to the person afflicted, or similar problems for those in contact with the person.<\/span><\/p>\n

In this broader sense, it sometimes includes injuries, disabilities, disorders, syndromes, infections, isolated symptoms, deviant behaviors, and atypical variations of structure and function.<\/span><\/p>\n

Diseases can affect people not only physically, but also mentally, as contracting and living with a disease can alter the affected person’s perspective on life.<\/span><\/p>\n

The study of disease<\/strong> is called pathology, which includes the etiology, or cause.<\/span><\/p>\n

An acute disease<\/strong> is a short-lived disease, like the common cold.<\/span><\/p>\n

Chronic diseases<\/strong> last for a long time, usually at least six months.<\/span><\/p>\n

Epidemiology<\/strong> is the study of the factors that cause or encourage diseases.<\/span><\/p>\n

What are the Types of Illness by Body System?<\/span><\/p>\n
