From gear and techniques to basic fish anatomy, there\u2019s a lot you need to learn.<\/span><\/p>\n

These are the fishing terms every angler should know.<\/span><\/p>\n

Action<\/span><\/p>\n

One of the key performance components of a fishing rod. Determined by a rod\u2019s shape and material, action dictates how much and where the rod will bend.<\/span><\/p>\n

It also affects the speed at which a rod will go from loaded (bent) back to its original position.<\/span><\/p>\n

Anal Fin<\/span><\/p>\n

The fin on the ventral (lower) side of the fish, and the closest one to the tail. Important for telling different species apart.<\/span><\/p>\n

Angler<\/span><\/p>\n

One who fishes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Artificials<\/span><\/p>\n

Drifting<\/span><\/p>\n

Transom<\/span><\/p>\n

A flat platform at the stern of a boat that supports the engine.<\/span><\/p>\n

Trolling<\/span><\/p>\n

Setting the Hook<\/span><\/p>\n

Pulling the rod in a jerking motion to lodge the hook in a fish\u2019s mouth. Has to be done at just the right time.<\/span><\/p>\n
